Evaluation of key skills.

Evaluation of key skills

So far in media I have learnt about the rule of thirds while taking pictures, this will benefit me because I can make my pictures for my magazines look better than usual. Also how important it is to have sharp, focused pictures; especially around the eyes.

I also have got to grips with a newer version of photoshop than what I had previously used. This was quite difficult to start with as everything was all over the place and icons had moved and changed which I had to learn before I could start using them again, once I understood everything it was fun to get into the swing of photoshop once again.

I have learnt a few things about the Apple Macs too, like how to eject a USB drive safely and how to screen shot things. The screen shotting took a few attempts but it is more useful than on a normal computer as you select the area of the screen you want to screen shot and just drag a box around it.

So far I am enjoying media as it is very fun and laid back, but still educational and hopefully will help me later on in life.

Selection and Rejection

Selection and Rejection

Preliminary Task; Contents Page

Contents Page

My contents page is very basic as all it needs to do is show information, not many people look at the contents page unless they are trying to find something very specific in the magazine.

If I were to do this again I would make it more colourful, but it is only just a very basic draft of my contents page.

Preliminary Task; Front Cover

Front Cover

The colours on my front cover are what my survey results showed my audience wanted. Also the masthead is relevant to my task as it is related to college. The audience helped me in what to put on my front cover and the type of person to photograph for the front cover.

If I did this again I would cut the background out neater as it looks quite rough. But all in all photoshop was quite easy to use once I got used to it and I am quite happy with my results.
